CHARLOTTE, NC - An introductory meeting between BayernLB and Strata Solar ended abruptly as all the meeting attendees from the Strata side promptly stood up and left after BayernLB Managing Director Hahns Dietrich opened by saying “if you’re just looking for the lowest interest rate and nothing more, then Bayern probably isn’t the right choice for you.”

Reports from attendees indicate that the Strata attendees immediately shared looks of befuddlement, and then stood up - in unison - and returned to their desks. The Sunion reached Strata project finance director Beatrice Moutinho for comment: “It was really nice actually. Here I thought I was about to sit through a 2 hour meeting consisting of, like, two pieces of information I actually wanted surrounded by a bunch of bullshit. But then when Dietrich opened with that doozy, I got a big chunk of my day back. I don’t get it….you’re a long-term cashflow based lender - why would I care about anything else? Gosh, now I almost wish I would have stayed to see where he was going with that.”

Dietrich said he was surprised by the reaction and disappointed he didn’t get to go through his whole spiel. “Yeah I had this whole speech planned. I usually do this whole thing where I make people feel short-sighted for just wanting the best economic terms while losing sight of ‘way more important things’ like value add, flexibility, patience, closing quickly, etc. As though I’m some sort of early stage development lender with a nuanced structure and legitimate claims at adding value. I know…it sounds ridiculous, but lots of folks fall for it,” said Dietrich.
